Cost Controller

Our client, an Australian fertiliser and chemical company, is seeking a Cost Controller to assist on an ongoing temporary contract based in Kwinana.

Location: Kwinana

Start date: April 2024

Duration: Ongoing casual assignment - depending on client requirements

Pay rate: $65ph - $75ph + Super

The Role

• Implement and maintain effective cost control processes for the Sodium Cyanide Expansion project.
• Monitor project expenditures against approved budgets and forecasts.
• Identify and analyse cost trends, providing insights to project management.
• Collaborate with project managers, EPCM contractors and other stakeholders to develop project budgets.
• Regularly update and maintain accurate cost forecasts throughout the project lifecycle.
• Assess the impact of scope changes on project costs and communicate findings.
• Conduct variance analysis between actual and budget/forecast costs.
• Prepare financial reports for project management and key stakeholders.
• Ensure financial data accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
• Ensure accurate recording and tracking of contract commitments, including accuracy and adherence to contractual terms.
• Conduct periodic cost audits to ensure adherence to project financial controls.
• Identify cost risks and uncertainties and develop risk mitigation strategies.

Experience Required

• 3 years or more experience in a similar position
• A strong focus on safety and safe work practices
• Extensive experience in project cost control for major capital projects.
• Tertiary degree in a relevant discipline
