About the role:

You will assume the leadership role and strategically oversee the Council Services unit within the community, ensuring the delivery of efficient and effective services that are in line with the goals of the East Arnhem Regional Council. Additionally, you will cultivate community engagement, spearhead operational excellence, and facilitate team development to enhance service delivery, promote environmental sustainability, and uphold cultural responsiveness within the community.

To be successful in this role, you will possess the following:

1- Qualifications or substantial experience in local service delivery, leadership, and operations management.
2 - Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
3 - Facilitation, mediation, negotiation, and managerial abilities in a cross-cultural setting.
4 - Proven track record in managing diverse teams, mentoring, and motivating staff.
5 - Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to adapt to new software.
6 - Experience in maintaining a safe working environment.
7 - Current C Class Drivers Licence with manual transmission capability.

It would be desirable if you also possessed:

1 - Experience living/working in a remote Australian First Nations community. 
2 - Ability to obtain HR, Backhoe, and Skid Steer Loader licenses. 
3 - Trade/tertiary qualifications or substantial industry experience. High cross-cultural awareness for effective participation. Understanding of issues impacting First Nations People in Australia.

The preferred applicant will be required to undergo a Criminal History Check and obtain a Working with Children Clearance. Criminal history will not exclude an applicant unless it is relevant to the position.

What you'll get in return:

Full Time Permanent employment 

Level 8 – Salary $104,109.93 - $110,450.12 (excluding super and locality allowance) with annual wage increase opportunities built into our EBA.

You will also benefit from annual leave with 17.5% leave loading.
