Our client is a leading provider of support services dedicated to helping families in the Northern Territory navigate through challenging times and crises. Position Overview:
We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Family Counsellor or Social Worker to join our team in the Northern Territory. The successful candidate will provide counselling and support to families experiencing a range of challenges or crises, including family and relationship issues, financial crises, alcohol and drug misuse, child protection concerns, and domestic and family violence. This role plays a critical role in helping families build resilience, develop coping strategies, and access appropriate services and resources.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individual and family counselling to clients experiencing a range of challenges or crises, including family and relationship issues, financial crises, substance misuse, child protection concerns, and domestic and family violence.
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of clients' needs, strengths, and risk factors to develop personalised counselling plans and intervention strategies.
  • Work collaboratively with clients to identify goals, develop coping skills, and access support services and resources to address their needs.
  • Provide crisis intervention and support to clients in urgent or high-risk situations, including safety planning and referrals to emergency services.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Counselling, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field.
  • Registration or eligibility for registration with relevant professional bodies (e.g., AASW, PACFA, AHPRA).
  • Demonstrated experience providing counselling and support to individuals and families, preferably in a community or crisis intervention setting.
  • Knowledge of and experience working with issues related to family dynamics, relationships, substance misuse, child protection, and domestic violence.
  • Valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle.
