The Family Mental Health Support Service provides outreach support working closely with the child and their family within their home and school environments.
This role is based at our Christies Beach Office.
If you have experience working with families, a deep understanding of mental health issues, and are committed to making a positive impact, we want you on our team.
What You’ll Do
In this role, your primary responsibility will be to deliver integrated counseling and case management services to children and young people within the family context, particularly those who are at risk of or currently experiencing mental health issues. You will achieve this by leveraging both the strengths of the individual and the communities they belong to.
Core Objectives
- Provide comprehensive counseling and case management to improve the wellbeing of children, young people, and families facing various challenges
- Promote mental health and reduce instances of family violence and sexual abuse in the community.
- Prioritise individual needs in assessment, service delivery, and evaluation processes.
- Engage in community development activities and education initiatives.
What You Need
- Professional experience in working with children, young people, and families, employing a strengths-based approach to service delivery.
- Strong understanding of mental health issues.
- Track record of working effectively with Aboriginal people, families, and communities.
- Familiarity with therapeutic approaches, including Narrative Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Family Systems Counselling.
