As part of this company’s growth, a new Head Office position has been created that will have the primary responsibility for credit risk management. You will be part of a busy team, reporting to the CFO and building relationships with key senior executives in the business . The company has a flexible working culture and promotes a hybrid work style allowing some working from home.
As Credit and Collections Manager your main responsibilities will be as follows:
Credit Risk Management
- Own the credit approval process for the core commercial and industrial retail electricity business, including exceptions approvals and conditional requirements to mitigate risk.
- Conduct longer term credit risk assessments on an ad-hoc basis for renewable energy backed agreements.
- Support the trading team with credit assessments for potential derivative transaction counterparties.
- Support strategy and process development for new business initiatives that involve credit risk.
- Regular reporting to leadership team on accounts receivable performance, including trend analysis and business / market context
Collections
- Optimise collection activities across the organisation to drive down average accounts receivable days and minimise bad debts.
- Ensure that collection processes are adhered to for all overdue accounts.
- Lead escalation process in partnership with legal and account management teams for
- delinquent customers to minimise losses.
Process and Policy
- Continuously review processes and seek to find efficiencies with a focus on opportunities to leverage technology to automate and streamline operations.
- Own the relationships with credit assessment analytics suppliers to ensure accountability and high service levels. Explore opportunities to leverage new services to improve accounts receivable performance.
- Review, develop and optimise credit and collections policies over time in partnership with the CFO and business stakeholders.
People Management
- Line manager responsibility for Accounts Receivable Officer, who will support the core responsibilities and objectives of this role.
Desired skills and experience:
- Experience in commercial credit risk assessment. Business lending experience is ideal
- Experience in collections is highly regarded.
- Strong verbal communication skills, with experience in negotiating and holding difficult conversations.
- Stakeholder management.Microsoft Office experience, particularly Excel and Word
- Strong planning & time management skills
- Strong organisational and coordination skills
- Experience in problem solving and analysis.
- Tertiary degree qualification in Finance or Commerce preferable

This company's head office is on the Eastern side of the central Melbourne area, there is free staff car parking. The company has a flexible working culture and there is scope to work from home approx 2 weeks per month after getting up to speed.
