About this role

Grant Thornton Australia is a leading audit, tax and advisory firm where care is just as important as capability – because we believe that the experience is just as important as the outcome. With our values at the core, we are creating a unique and constructive culture where we care for our people, clients and communities and support them to thrive.

This opportunity is situated within our Credit Control team, an integral part of our national Finance Team at Grant Thornton Australia. As a Credit Controller, your role will be pivotal in managing all facets of the credit function and supporting the implementation and refinement of credit policies and procedures. Working closely with the Business Performance Manager and other Credit Controllers distributed across Australia, your focus will be on actively contributing to debtor reduction and collection efforts.

  • Collaborating with the Business Performance Manager to enforce the National Credit Policy and ensure compliance.
  • Oversight of outstanding debtors and the continuous improvement of debtor collection processes.
  • Proactive engagement with partners, managers, and external clients to achieve monthly collection targets.
  • Preparation and delivery of timely and accurate reports to partners and managers for efficient debtor ledger management.
  • Invoice and statement distribution via bulk email, including managing exceptions.
  • Effective management of client disputes and repayment plans.
  • Implementation of credit control policies, including the 'Stop Work Policy' for debts exceeding 90 days.
  • Contribution to the development of national credit control policies.
  • Support for implementation and change management initiatives.
  • Adherence to National Credit Management policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Identification and communication of any gaps in national policies or discrepancies between local and national policies.

Skills & experience

  • Prior exposure to a professional services setting, within a similar position
  • Intrinsic motivation and results-driven mindset, adept at building relationships across all levels.
  • Knowledge of relevant financial regulations and compliance requirements
  • Effective time management, organisational skills, and the ability to work autonomously or collaboratively in a dynamic environment
  • A relevant diploma or equivalent professional experience.

If you’re interested in this role but don’t feel that you match every single one of our requirements, we would still love to hear from you and explore the unique skillset and attributes that you can bring to the team.
