Emeco are seeking an experienced Credit Controller to provide support to our Finance department.
About The role
Key responsibilities of the role include:
- Evaluate and assess the creditworthiness of new and existing customers through financial analysis, credit checks, and industry research.
- Establish and enforce credit policies and procedures to mitigate credit risk while supporting sales growth.
- Monitor customer credit limits, payment terms, and outstanding balances, taking proactive measures to address potential issues or delinquencies.
- Collaborate with Commercial and Operations teams to review credit applications, negotiate terms, and resolve credit-related disputes.
- Oversee the accounts receivable process, including billing, invoicing, collections, and cash application.
- Develop and implement strategies to optimize cash flow, reduce DSO (Days Sales Outstanding), and minimize bad debt losses; Actively follow up and investigate overdue client payments.
- Conduct regular reviews of aging reports and collection activities, identifying trends and areas for improvement.
- Involvement in debtor insurance renewals and reporting of overdue debtors to the insurer.
- Support the streamline billing processes, identify inefficiencies, and implement automation solutions to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
- Cultivate strong relationships with customers, sales representatives, and internal stakeholders to facilitate effective credit management and collections processes.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with customers regarding credit terms, payment expectations, and overdue accounts.
About You
The successful applicant will have the following skills and knowledge:
- 3+ years’ experience in coordination roles with the ability to deliver varied tasks requiring independent judgement
- Proven experience (5+ years) in credit management, accounts receivable, or related financial roles.
- Strong understanding of credit risk assessment methodologies, financial analysis, and accounting principles.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact effectively with customers and internal stakeholders.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field desirable
