Hanna Legal is a leading boutique law firm. Based in Sydney, we specialise in criminal defence, with a focus on serious and complex matters.
We also have extensive experience in quasi-criminal and regulatory matters, and act in select civil cases.
About the Role
We are seeking a law student to join our team as a casual paralegal/legal assistant.
Duties will generally involve:
• Secretarial tasks, such as answering phones, sending emails, photocopying, scanning and staffing the front desk.
• Assistance with filing and general office management.
• Calendar management.
• Taking notes in conferences with solicitors and barristers.
• Preparing briefs for counsel.
• Typing correspondence and advice.
• Reviewing evidence
• Assisting solicitors with the day-day management of their practice.
You must be able to work at least 2 days a week, with a preference for:
- candidates who are able to work 3 days a week or more.
- candidates who can work consecutive days.
- candidates who have experience in Criminal Law.
Criteria
• Completion of the first, second, third or fourth year of an LLB or JD.
• Strong organisational and communication skills.
• Attention to detail, ability to work effectively both within a team and independently and ability to manage competing deadlines in a high- pressure environment.
• A passionate interest in Criminal Law.
Rate of pay: $31 per hour
Duration: Casual with an immediate start. Flexible during exam periods.
