Brookview Proprietors is a family-owned business comprising 3000 ha, primarily focused on cropping operations. The business is located in the heart of South Australia's most productive sheep and wheat country, with land locations ranging from Red Hill, Koolunga, Narridy, Crystal Brook, and Caltowie. Cropping consists of 50% lentils alongside durum, bread wheat, and barley.
The company takes pride in maintaining high-quality modern plant and machinery, including a John Deere 616 self-propelled sprayer, X9 Header, 2021 Kenworth road train (automatic) and modern John Deere tractors. A small sheep enterprise consisting of a 100-head self-replacing Merino flock is also a minor part of the operation.
The Role:
We are seeking a Cropping Farm Hand to work alongside the owners to assist in running the Brookview Proprietors cropping operation. The role focuses on cropping (seeding, spraying and harvest), machinery operations and maintenance. Very occasionally, some livestock work will be needed. The role requires someone who understands the importance of timeliness, pays attention to detail, takes care of machinery operations and maintenance, shows initiative, works well in a team, and communicates openly.
The ideal candidate will have some experience with various cereal and pulse crop types, but those with a positive attitude and ability to learn will also be considered. The role could also suit someone transitioning from a trade, mining, transport, or mechanical field with heavy machinery operation, truck driving, or mechanical skills.

An attractive remuneration package is on offer, based on an average of 40 hours per week during non-peak times. Ordinary work hours are 8:00 am to 5:00 pm with an unpaid one-hour lunch break. Reasonable overtime hours will be required during peak season such as seeding and harvest.
A beautiful brick home in the township of Crystal Brook is on offer, with four bedrooms, two bathrooms and a spacious backyard. The property offers split system air conditioning, a slow-combustion wood heater, and ceiling fans. This is a short 10 km drive from the main working location.
Brookeview is located 10 minutes from Crystal Brook, 30 minutes from Port Pirie, 45 minutes to Clare, 30 minutes to the coast at Port Broughton, and 2 hours from Adelaide. - Hold a car license
- Ability to work in a team
- Hardworking with an outcome-focused work ethic
- Organised and hold time management skills
- Good communicator and ability to work unsupervised
- Self-motivated and physically fit
- Willing to obtain the following: Truck License, ChemCert, First Aid Certificate, Forklift License, and Working at Heights Certificate
