About The Role
As an Allied Health Assistant, the primary role is to support Allied Health Practitioners in delivering high-quality client/patient/consumer care through a combination of clinical and administrative tasks. Under the supervision of qualified professionals, the assistant actively participates in direct care, aiding in routine evaluations, preparing clients for treatment, and disseminating information about services. The assistant also contributes to the assessment of client needs, assisting in the development and delivery of therapeutic activities and programs as prescribed by Allied Health Professionals. Administrative responsibilities include word processing, telephone communication, record-keeping, and resource monitoring. The role emphasizes continuous professional development, adherence to health and safety policies, and effective communication within the healthcare team. The Assistant aligns with the vision, goals, and values of Caring for the Coast and exemplifies behaviours consistent with NSW Health CORE values and CCLHD Values and behaviours charter.
Key Accountabilities

  • Direct Client Care: Provide hands-on support in direct client/patient/consumer care, assisting with routine evaluations, treatment preparation, and service-related information dissemination.
  • Therapeutic Program Assistance: Contribute to the assessment of client needs, aiding in the development and delivery of therapeutic activities and programs prescribed by Allied Health Professionals, while being mindful of background diagnosis and precautions.
  • Administrative Support: Undertake various administrative tasks such as word processing, telephone communication, photocopying, and maintaining inventory records, ensuring efficient resource utilization and monitoring.
  • Continuous Professional Development: Maintain currency in educational requirements, actively participate in professional practice supervision, and engage in performance management processes to enhance the level of service provided to clients/patients/consumers.
About You
  • Must have Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistant/relevant qualification or willingness to undertake this training. Current unencumbered NSW driver’s licence and the ability and willingness to travel across sites for meetings and clinical care provision.
  • Demonstrated previous experience working in a health environment, with a range of patient cohorts across inpatient, outpatient and/or community settings.
  • Demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skills and computer literacy.
