The Role: More Than Just a Job
As a Cultural Support Consultant, you won't be clocking in and out. You'll be embarking on fulfilling journeys each day to make real impacts in the lives of young people and children. Whether it's supporting staff with Aboriginal Case Management Policy, locating kinship placements or identifying other cultural opportunities, your work here truly matters.
What We Require from You:
- Strong Communicator: an individual who is empathetic, autonomous, adaptable, collaborative, shows respect, demonstrates active listening, clear and open communication, and can maintain confidentiality, is culturally competent, and has advocacy ability.
- Support and Consultation Competency: an ability to provide formal and informal consultation to staff, provide support on Aboriginal Placement Principles, Aboriginal Case Management Policy, contribute to multi-disciplinary case discussion, provide specialist and expert advice, support and coaching.
- Stakeholder Engagement Management: Build rapport with First Nations children and young people; participate on the Aboriginal Consultation Panel, and build relationships with ACCO's to enhance staff engagement and network with local communities.
- Tech-Savvy: Comfortable with Microsoft Office, especially Word & Outlook.
- Shared Values: collaborative, supportive attitude, reliable, problem-solver, accountable, conflict resolving ability, committed, a team player, autonomous, self-aware.
- Cultural Competency: Organise and facilitate internal and external cultural immersion, education and training, provide reference, research and specialised knowledge on First Nations culture and practices within the FNP Framework.
- Policy Management & Record Keeping: Develop culturally appropriate policies and procedures, attend meetings, staff development opportunities and, events. Undertake transition planning, preparation for placement, maintain comprehensive records etc.
