Job description

Why Newcastle Airport

Want to transform our region? It starts with one.

Every individual makes a big difference at Newcastle Airport. Be part of a transformational business and an agile team working as one to connect the region to our nation and the world. Your ideas are heard, and every individual contributes to our ambitious future plans: to be the airport the region deserves. Guided by our values and through our authentic and collaborative culture, our work directly benefits our local community, driving domestic and international tourism and making our region more successful and diverse.

At Newcastle Airport every person makes a big impact.

About us

Newcastle Airport, the second busiest Airport in the state, is experiencing the most exciting period of its 70-year history as it grows in size, aspiration, and influence.

There’s never been a better time to join one of the region’s most dynamic teams that is making a difference. Guided by its deeply held purpose of ‘being the airport the region deserves', the organisation has emerged as a stronger, bolder, and more ambitious business than before the global pandemic.

In the last two years, the airport has secured 121 million in Federal funding for a new terminal and a runway upgrade that will cater for long haul international flights. It has connected to to 6 new destinations, including Cairns and Adelaide, with Singapore now in sight. It has expanded to encompass a world class Defence and Aerospace precinct, brought forward major works on its 2036 Masterplan and was named the 2021 Major Airport of the Year.

About the role:

Join our dynamic team at Newcastle Airport! As a vital member, you will collaborate closely with our team, ensuring exceptional professionalism and Customer Service for both internal and external customers. In this role, you won't be stationed at the front desk; instead, you'll be an integral part of our office's collaborative and supportive team culture, working alongside your colleagues within the office.

Your responsibilities will include serving as the primary contact for customer inquiries, feedback, and concerns across various channels, such as phone, email, and chat. You will manage front-of-house reception duties, engaging with customers, gathering feedback, and identifying areas for improvement. Additionally, you will document customer interactions, feedback, and resolutions accurately in our CRM system.

You will provide high-quality and timely administrative support to the team and the broader business, including monitoring and managing the general office email inbox, coordinating visitor arrivals, and maintaining document control. Furthermore, you will manage diary schedules, process visitors using the visitor management system, and ensure office and kitchen supplies are well-stocked.

Your role will also involve coordinating and hosting events, managing meeting rooms and associated bookings, and proactively ensuring kitchen and office areas are tidy and hazard-free. While cleaning isn't the primary duty, promptly addressing cleanliness issues and reporting maintenance concerns for a safe workspace is essential.

If you are proactive, customer-focused, and thrive in a collaborative team environment, we would love to hear from you!

About You:

With at least three years of experience in Customer Service, administration, or a related corporate field, you possess exceptional communication skills. You excel in written, verbal, interpersonal, negotiation, and active listening settings, always putting customer happiness first. Your empathetic and patient nature drives you to assist customers and resolve their issues effectively.

You hold a Bachelor's degree in business administration or have equivalent practical experience. Proficient in Customer Service software, CRM systems, and the Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, you are highly organised with keen attention to detail. You thrive in fast-paced environments, managing multiple priorities with ease.

Known for your professionalism, positivity, and proactive approach, you are a natural problem-solver who remains calm under pressure. You handle confidential information discreetly and align with NAPL values.

Our values: Trust | Engaged | Committed | Accountable | Results-driven

Our values aren’t just words on a page, they are a core part of our DNA. We live and breathe them every day, from making strategic decisions right through to the daily support that we provide to our passengers and visitors

Why work for Newcastle Airport:

  • Energetic, values-driven and supportive culture: there’s always a buzz in our team, we’re agile and authentic and we walk the talk when it comes to our values. Our people are ego-free, collaborative, and dynamic.
  • A powerhouse for the region: we are a transformational business, growing fast with the development of our new international terminal and our Astra Aerolab, an uplifting and world class defence, aerospace and innovation precinct.
  • More than profit: your hard work directly benefits your local community and connects our region to the world. You will make a significant impact in the success of the Hunter by driving domestic and international tourism and increasing diversity, to help us be the airport the region deserves.
  • Wellbeing matters: looking after you is key to our success. We prioritise flexibility with hybrid working from home arrangements, flexible hours, and extra paid leave. Join our corporate fitness program, access mental health and wellbeing initiatives and enjoy opportunities to grow.
  • Serious about sustainability: we’re committed to enriching the future for our people, our place and our planet. We’re investing over $2 million in sustainable practices, with ambitious goals of carbon neutrality, a five Green star rating for new buildings, and solar energy systems to become an industry leader in environmental social governance.
