You could be one of our 2700 committed team members who are up to the challenge.About the roleThe South Dynon Daily Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing all yard and depot operations at multiple sites across Melbourne and regional Victoria, including Southern Cross Station, Wyndham Vale, and Geelong as required.Key Accountabilities include:Lead the execution of Daily Operations at South Dynon, ensuring adherence to V/Line's partnership agreement terms and consistent delivery of reliable customer service.Manage the direct team of Yardmasters / Shunters and foster collaboration across departments to implement the Daily Service Plan and Fleet Maintenance Plan successfully, focusing on close coordination with drivers and the IOC.Manage Yard disruptions, including minute-by-minute adjustments to the Network Service Plan to mitigate service degradation and respond to matters impacting performance.Responsible for the central management and coordination of the Bio wash, ensuring that Train Services, Yard Operations, Network Services, Fleet, and subcontractors work together to maintain the execution of a unified process that returns units to service without delay.Partner closely with V/Line's rolling stock maintenance provider for unplanned maintenance activities.Ensure effective management throughout the employee lifecycle, including overseeing Shunter training up to Yardmaster grade to maintain a talent pipeline for the future, while navigating industrial relations in a unionised environment.Ensure safe work environments and compliance with all operational policies and procedures across all sites, including identifying, understanding, and managing risks for employees, and ensuring customer and visitor safety.Identify trends and develop continuous improvement solutions for safety, operational, and people performance, and implement supporting systems as required.About youThe successful candidate will have experience leading operations in high-risk environments and driving a safety culture in a highly regulated industry.Our ideal candidate will possess the following:Preferably, possess a minimum of five years of operational experience within rail or similar industries such as aviation, transport, or logistics.Demonstrated capability in providing leadership and guidance to frontline teams across geographically dispersed locations, with experience in unionised workforces/environments.Previous involvement in leading maintenance activities and proficiency in fleet scheduling.A background in Shunting and the delivery of training and or management of Shunters will be highly regarded.Proven track record in promoting safety and familiarity with safety management systems, including experience in auditing and quality assurance.Ability to manage large-scale projects in an ever-evolving environment and lead continuous improvement initiatives.Demonstrated alignment to V/Line’s values of responsiveness, integrity, impartiality, accountability, respect, leadership, and human rights.In addition to free Myki travel, we offer:Community impact – Make a genuine difference.
