The Role
The Data Analyst is accountable under limited direction to perform and achieve complex data analysis work within an integrated workforce. They are accountable to have and maintain a well-developed understanding of, and compliance to relevant legislative frameworks, government decision-making and Defence's mission and policy requirements.
The Data Analyst will be accountable for organising their workflow and making independent decisions relating to their area of responsibility. They will interpret and provide advice within the data function area, in line with legislation, policy and procedures. They will undertake specialist research, and analysis, conduct investigations and perform data analysis support work to achieve results.
The Data Analyst may coordinate and contribute to the work of a team consistent to a work plan and provide advice and assistance on methods of task completion to team members. They are expected to be capable of reviewing and developing the quality of work undertaken by others and identifying opportunities for on-the-job training within a work unit. They will be required to engage and communicate with stakeholders to identify, respond and provide advice on issues to achieve work unit and Defence outcomes.
About our Team
The Land Capability Division (LCD) Chief of Staff (CoS) Data Initiatives team will directly address the challenge of operationalising Defence data strategies and resources in the context of Land Capability Division. The approach of the Data Initiatives team will be to address data maturity challenges head on by;
- Identifying data challenges and opportunities to advance Army end-state goals
- Engaging a stakeholder networks
- Employing a learning orientated approach to trial innovate solutions that have scope to improve the level of LCD data maturity
The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated, self-starter with the ability to work with autonomy and limited supervision, who is able to work effectively in a small, collaborative team environment. They will have a high level of written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate confidently with stakeholders internally and externally, at all levels. To be successful in this position, the ideal candidate will be required to organise their workflow and make independent decisions relating to their area of responsibility. They will be required to have and maintain a well-developed understanding of and compliance with relevant legislative frameworks, government decision-making and Defence's mission and policy requirements.
