About the Role:
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Data Analyst to join our team. As a Data Analyst, you will be responsible for analysing datasets identify trends, and insights to then support data-driven decision-making processes across the Department of Veterans Affair Team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Gather, clean, and analyse datasets from various sources to identify trends, patterns, and insights.
- Develop and maintain regular reports, dashboards, and visualisations to communicate key metrics using Power BI. Develop user-friendly front-end reports, dashboards, and visualisations.
- Interpret data results, identify key takeaways, and provide actionable recommendations to improve business performance. Identify trends and call out areas to target improvements.
- Identify automation opportunities and make strategic recommendations based on data analysis to continuously improve daily operations within the team.
- Ensure data integrity and accuracy by conducting regular data audits and implementing data quality best practices.
- Perform ad hoc analysis and respond to data inquiries from various departments as needed.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in data analysis and visualisation.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Currently studying or have completed a Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a Data Analyst or similar role.
- Strong knowledge of and experience with reporting packages, specifically Power BI.
- High proficiency in Excel functions, Power Query, and Power Automate.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present data findings clearly and concisely to non-technical stakeholders.
- High attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.

Mandatory Requirements:
- Current federal police clearance (not more than 12 months old) and international police check if you have lived overseas in the last 10 years
- Evidence of Australian work rights (passport, birth certificate, etc).
