The Digital Business Division designs, builds and implements sustainable digital and data products and services for the department's trade and biosecurity groups and supports multiple cross-border mission critical systems. It is also responsible for the agency's enterprise-wide digital and data strategies and long range investment plans.
The Job
The role of Data Analyst includes:
- Delivery of key data and analytics objectives with limited supervision.
- Working as part of a multidisciplinary team to deliver data and analytic products that are fit for business use.
- Displaying a dedication to quality assurance processes, continuous integration processes and documentation, and programming conventions.
- Contributing to the team’s continuous development through peer-learning and peer-coaching.
- Negotiating with stakeholders from IT, external vendors, and business areas, articulating technical concepts when necessary.
- Ensuring compliance with legislation, policies and standards, including the APS Values and Code of Conduct, department's health and safety policies, procedures and departmental instructional material.
- Demonstrated experience supporting organisational outcomes using data wrangling, analysis and visualisation.
- Demonstrated experience reviewing code and enforcing quality patterns.
- High level of written communication skills and experience with writing technical documents.
- Proven ability to communicate effectively on technical issues to non-technical audiences.
- Proven ability to work with others with different perspectives.
- Sound judgement and the ability to organise work to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Azure DevOps for managing code and for continuous integration.
- Machine learning and predictive analytics.
- Sound programming skills in Python, R or Spark.
- Data wrangling and extraction using SQL.
- Biosecurity and/or exports systems.

This position requires a Baseline Vetting security clearance. You will be required to obtain and maintain a clearance at this level.
