About the Unit
The Data Analytics and Insight Unit supports the implementation and drives the execution of the University's data strategy with a key focus on creating a whole of institution approach to leverage our data assets and to drive evidence-based decisions. The Unit drives the overall Data, analytics and AI Program and continuously seeks to improve the usability, visibility and management of data assets and works closely with key data and systems managers across the University to achieve the University's objectives and aspirations in relation to data management and use.
We have a cloud based data warehouse which is used to manage and integrate data across key domains of the university - including student enrolment, learning, research, finance and staff data.
About the Role
The Data Analyst - Engineering is responsible for leveraging and integrating data across diverse portfolios and be adept in querying, analysing, transforming and modelling data to generate actionable insights for University stakeholders.
The Data Analyst - Engineering plays a key role in the acquisition, management and accessibility of data and is part of the data management services team., data and system stewards to enhance our data pipelines and data warehouse.
About You
The Data Analyst will require a high level of creativity, analysis and sound judgement.
You will be the technical expert, and one stop point of contact for pan-University Business Data advice and support. As part of a small team you will work across development, support and design of data acquisition and transformation in UTS' Data Warehouse and related environments.
If successful for the role, your responsibilities will include;
- Development and support of the Data Warehousing, Business Intelligence and Analytics environment
- Identify and rectify issues with existing processes, data and reports, recommend and resolve issues
- Analysis of business data to ensure appropriate definitions, data quality management and data integrity are applied and enforced
Specific technology and business knowledge needed:
- Data warehousing
- Extract Transform and Load (ETL) technologies such as SSISSQL
- Python (desirable)
- AWS Services such as Redshift, S3, lambda, AWS batch (desirable)

Remuneration & Benefits
Base Salary Range: $102,458 to $113,344 pa (HEW 7)
This role attracts 17% superannuation in addition to the base salary.

This position is full-time and appointment will be made on a continuing basis. Hybrid working arrangement is currently implemented in the team.
