- VPS Grade 6: $130,673 - $174,869 plus superannuation.
The Victorian Institute of Forensic Medicine (VIFM) is an independent statutory authority governed by the Victorian Institute of Forensic Medicine Act 1985 (the VIFM Act). It is part of the Justice portfolio of the Victorian Government.
The VIFM Act creates a joint position of Director of the VIFM and Professor of the Department of Forensic Medicine (DFM) at Monash University. The Director/Professor is responsible for the strategic direction and activities of the DFM, which is housed at the VIFM and operates under the governance of the Monash University Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences.
About the Role:
VIFM is looking for a Database Migration Engineer to plan and execute the Data Migration activities for an exciting Digital Transformation project. The role includes moving the data and converting content as necessary, while considering risks and potential. The successful candidate will have an extensive background in migrating data from Oracle or SQL databases to Microsoft Dynamics Customer Service (365 Dataverse) through automated tools. The role will analyse existing database tables, understand the data, and build and test automated Data Migration.
Some of your duties will include:
- Analyinge and understanding existing data and information stored within
- If required, building logical data model of the related entities. Map physical entities to the logical data model
- Completing other duties as required by Enterprise Architect
- On some occasions, analysing Java application code to understand what data is mapped from the UI to the database tables
About You:
As an ideal candidate, you will possess:
- Minimum 3+ years' experience with migrating data into Dataverse using automated tools. o Minimum 3+ years' experience with expertise in Data Mapping, Data Conversion and Migration.
- Detailed knowledge and understanding of Oracle 19 databases o Experience defining the data object model of a complex business system by mapping its components required for Data migration and conversion
- Experience in developing logical data model and mapping it to physical data model o Experience in SQL scripts and stored procedure to understand data manipulation and document findings for Data Migration purposes
- Experience and understanding of Java programming language to investigate and troubleshoot data mapping issues
- Experience and knowledge of any health data model would be highly advantageous
- Experience in redesigning existing database model for mapping to the new system would be highly advantageous.
- Tertiary qualifications (degree or higher) in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
