Here is a taster of what you can expect in this role:

• Provide thought leadership on industry best practice regarding Data Science solutions and their implementation in business. 
• Prepare strategic team direction and provide roadmaps for long term ML and AI capabilities
• Provide strategic input to the business on opportunities for value growth using Data Science
• Identify and assess the internal and external partnership opportunities and lead the organisation in data-related conversations and negotiations.
• Leading projects and building relationships with internal teams to identify questions, issues and opportunities for data analysis and experiments.
• Build the capability of the team through leadership, coaching, development and performance management 
• Work out which building blocks will be needed, how they will interface with each other and with other parts of the technology stack, and how the critical components will actually work
• Work with our data engineering and technology teams to identify the right big data infrastructure to support our future ambitions
• Engage with business partners and delivery teams to ensure algorithms are delivered and implemented into production systems
• Interpret analysis and modelling results in a business context and provide specific recommendations for new types of content to be developed.
• Lead a team of data scientists to:
• Understand the important dimensions of the variants that the business is seeking to test
• Build the system to make the choices, learn what worked and make better choices in future
• Develop and maintain state of the art advanced statistical and machine learning models
• Be responsible for the end-to-end Data Science execution including scoping, building, testing, implementation, maintenance, tracking and optimisation of predictive models on the GCP platform.
• Be responsible for complete and accurate documentation of all development.

Qualifications

Now let’s talk about you: 

• Lead a team of Data Scientists to deliver solutions at scale for Advanced Analytics
• 7 to 10 years experience developing predictive models in commercial environments, preferably exposure to merchandising and Marketing. 
• Experience in developing machine learning algorithms to drive class-leading commercial outcomes.
• Proven commercial experience in statistical and machine learning modelling, with experience in deploying models in production on the cloud.
• Advanced working knowledge of analytical programming: Python (preferred) or R, and SQL.
• Exposure to Data Warehouse platforms, such as BigQuery
• Experience with SQL essential; exposure to Azure or GCP preferred.
• Experience in working in complex, multi-stakeholder environments. 
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organise, analyse and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
• Comfort with qualitative segmentation approaches and an ability to translate this into actionable features and tests
• Ideally experience in retail vertical markets (not essential)
• Tertiary qualified in relevant disciplines (Statistics, Data Science, Mathematics, Computer Science). Prior experience in a commercial/business support or data/insights analyst role coupled with relevant tertiary qualifications.
