Davidson Technology are currently partnering with a large Queensland State Government department that moves and connects people, places, goods and services safely, efficiently and effectively across Queensland.
They plan, manage, and deliver Queensland's integrated transport environment to achieve sustainable transport solutions for road, rail, air and sea.
We are seeking a Data Scientist for a 12-month contract with 12- month extension. This position is open to candidates seeking full- time or part- time hours of 36.25 – 40 hours a week.
About the Role
In this role, you will be supporting further development, enhancement and management of data science/engineering aspects for the Urban Land Use and Transport Interaction (MULTI).
You will use specialist data science/engineering skills in data blending and transformation pipeline development, analytics, artificial intelligence and machine learning modelling, insights generation, and data visualisation tool development as well as data engineering skills in data modelling and architecture development and maintenance for both cloud and on-premises solutions in combination with strong skills in mentoring, collaboration, and innovation as a senior officer in a team of technical experts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Technical leadership on the development and application of analytics products, data storage solutions and methodologies to meet stakeholder needs.
- Understand and communicate to others the sensitivities and limitations of data, analyses, models, storage and visualisation and associated tools and techniques to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ensure the timely delivery of fit for purpose products by participating in an agile work environment where products are iteratively developed and enhanced based on stakeholder feedback and objective assessments.
- Engage with other technical experts to ensure opportunities for data sharing, collaboration, and consistency are capitalised on.
- Maintain awareness of and explore new software, technologies, and methods that could improve business efficiency.
About You
To be successful, you will demonstrate:
- Previous experience working as a Data Scientist, Data Engineer, or similar role.
- Apply skills in artificial intelligence and machine learning, image extraction and processing, statistics, and geospatial and aspatial data analysis and blending to lead model and database development.
- Use knowledge of best practice data storage and structure to design efficient analytics solutions.
- Build and sustain relationships to enable the collaborative delivery of customer-focused outcomes.
- Communicate in a clear, succinct and deliberate manner, adjusting the message so that it resonates with different stakeholders.
- Familiarity with any of the following software / technologies: relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL), Geographic Information Systems (e.g., ESRI suite & QGIS), data science software (e.g., Alteryx & Python), cloud-enabled BI / visualisation software (e.g., Tableau), cloud platforms (e.g., Amazon Web Services).
