Our Opportunity
Due to ongoing growth and work awarded NEPEAN Conveyors is currently seeking an experienced Design Checker to join the team and assist us in delivery quality projects. This role is a crucial part of the Design and Engineering group of the company and key to our ongoing success. The multi‐faceted role will involve supporting the Engineering Drafting Manager to check the detailing of our 3D Inventor Models and 2D AutoCAD drawings to meet Australian, Industry and Client Standards. Relocation can be discussed for the right candidates!.
The Right Person:
- Checking drawings to Australian and Industry Standards
- Ensuring Client Specifications are met
- Detail Orientated
- Maintenance of drawing registers
- Technical Understanding the operation of industry equipment, especially underground coal conveyors
- Mentoring of staff
- Assist in improving inhouse design standards
- Assist Drafting Manager in scheduling and project planning of design staff and tasks
- Have a good leadership & strong problem solving skills

Skill sets:
- Experience in drawing checking
- Experience as drafting lead or project manager
- Experience in the Autodesk AutoCAD preferred
- Experience with Autodesk Inventor an advantage
- Experience with SolidWorks or other modelling software will be considered
- Experience in Mechanical and Structural Design is an preferred
- Experience / Trade qualification in Boilermaking and/or Fitting is an advantage
- 10+ years’ experience in Mechanical Design/Drafting preferred
- Minimum of 2 years in a checking role preferred
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Engineering Design Drafting
- Proficiency in the design layout and detailing of materials handling and process plants
- Understanding of fabrication and construction techniques in the materials handling industry
- Highly developed people and relationship skills with demonstrated ability to work in a multi-disciplined professional team environment communicating and motivating effectively at all levels of the organisation
