ZIMMERMANN is recruiting for an exciting opportunity for an experienced individual who is looking to take the next step in their career with a globally renowned design team.
The Design Development Manager is responsible for developing and supporting the delivery of Zimmermann Knitwear collections according to the business’s critical path.
This role is a senior technical position in the Zimmermann design team working closely with the Senior Knitwear Designer (EU) across both Ready to Wear and Swim & Resort Knitwear product lines.
The role includes, but is not limited to:
- Present extensive research and creative input into relevant collection materials.
- Ensuring all Knitwear collections are developed in accordance with the company expectations for cost and quality, and in line with critical path key dates.
- Managing the on-time execution of each season from sampling through to complete handover to production.
- Continually striving for innovative and beautiful yarns, trims, finishes and technique
- Collate ideas, source reference material to designer's brief and manage feedback between Paris and Sydney teams.
- Manage the development and production of the sample ranges for press and sales.
- Communicate design direction to suppliers, ensuring understanding of design proportions and finishes
- Manage the internal teams to ensure they are well trained and upskillsed in their role, and contribution to seasonal collections.
Desires skills and expertise:
- A fashion design degree from a respected Australian or international institution and have achieved outstanding results in both course work and in external competitions.
- 10+ years’ experience as a knitwear designer/developer with nationally or internationally recognized luxury or retail brands.
- An understanding and connection with the Zimmermann brand aesthetic
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with both senior team members and leading a junior team.
