The role of our Design Draftsperson is to use their innovative skills in design and creativity to come up with unique, practicable, and modern engineering solutions for our customers who are predominantly within the heavy industrial and mining industries. The role will also leverage these skills as a key member of our internal workshop developments and innovations.
To be successful in this role, you have proven skills in:
- Reverse engineering – Specifying materials, heat treatment and dimensional tolerancing.
- Consideration for reliability improvements – Reducing risk and improving MTBF.
- Effective application of portable CMM equipment - Using technology to save time.
- Engaging with production teams to meet delivery targets – Because DIFOT (delivery in full on time) counts
- Design and Creativity – Exceeding our customer expectations through efficient solutions.
- A recognised mechanical engineering, trade, drafting qualification or extensive experience.
- SolidWorks experience is essential, with Weldment Design & Drawing experience for fabrications desirable.
- You should readily think outside the box, be happy to collaborate and bring innovative ideas to the table.
- A thorough understanding of manufacturing techniques used in metal trades, including manual and CNC machining, grinding, welding, and heat treatment processes.
- Familiarity with the requirements of AS1100 (Technical Drawing).
- Demonstrated experience with FEA studies will be highly regarded.
- Minimum Certificate in Engineering (Mechanical, Drafting etc), or Diploma in Engineering (Mechanical, Drafting) is essential.
- Mechanical Engineering Degree will be highly regarded.
