About The Role
The Design and Placemaking Services branch provides Program and Project Management expertise regarding design and placemaking, combined with technical support to create, deliver and promote great design within our Sunshine Coast public realm.
The Design Services Supervisor leads the Civil Design Services Team in the investigations, design and documentation of transport and engineering infrastructure projects, including projects undertaken in conjunction with other Departments and Branches.
- Contribute to the Department’s role of building one, strong successful organisation, capable of delivering on the community’s vision and Council’s strategic themes.
- Assist the Coordinator to positively manage change processes within the Branch and Units / Teams that will assist in achieving the objectives of the Unit, Branch and Department and the goals of the Sunshine Coast Regional Council.
- Play a lead role in the development of technical governance procedures.
- Identify opportunities to optimise design development practices, processes and building partnerships with other teams and maintaining positive working relationships.
- Mentoring of junior staff and assisting in their development pathways.
- Ensuring increased efficiencies and improvement in service delivery through improved Unit development.
You will have sound communication, negotiation, interpretive and advocacy skills, with sound staff management and mentoring skills.
Together with a high level of passion, energy, enthusiasm and commitment, you will have demonstrated decision making ability with the capacity to develop goals, plans, systems and
projects to achieve the Team’s objectives and aspirations.
As a requirement of this role, you will have significant experience with the use of AutoCad and 12d design software. Along with tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering, project, contract management, engineering, construction management or other equivalent qualification, or considerable demonstrated experience based on a trade or certificated background. Furthermore, it is a requirement to be eligible to become an RPEQ within a year of appointment.
