We are looking for an energetic and motivated DEVELOPMENT ASSESSMENT PLANNER to join our consultant team at Planning Ingenuity. Are you happy in your statutory planning/DEVELOPMENT ASSESSMENT role but would like the challenge of working across LGA boundaries on a variety of DAs and modification applications within a vibrant, outcomes driven team? Would you like to work with a team of experienced ASSESSMENT PLANNERs committed to best practice assessment processes?
Our firm provides DEVELOPMENT ASSESSMENT services to over 15 LGAs in Sydney. These DEVELOPMENT ASSESSMENT projects cover small scale “fast track” style DAs through to major, complex development proposals. Our role covers preliminary review, preparation of RFIs, co-ordination of referrals, assessment of applications, preparation of conditions and LPP or SPP support as necessary.

Role Description
Your role will reflect your experience and ability and will involve working on a wide range of DEVELOPMENT ASSESSMENT projects including:
- Pre-application review and responses;
- Preliminary review of applications and RFI responses;
- Project management of application processes;
- Assessment of development applications and modification applications, including preparation of delegated reports, LPP, Sydney District and Regional Planning Panels;
- Attend meetings with applicants, officers of client Councils and other stakeholders;
- Potential to assist with preparation for Land & Environment Court appeals;
- Foster client relationships; and,
- Continued professional training, mentoring and collaboration.
What you will bring
To be successful you will have the following skills, experience and commitments:
- Tertiary qualifications in Town Planning or be eligible for membership to the Planning Institute of Australia (PIA);
- Demonstrated experience in DEVELOPMENT ASSESSMENT;
- A minimum 2years experience in town planning in NSW in local or state government, or consultancy, although we would also like to talk with planners anywhere on the spectrum of experience because we want to make the most of this opportunity;
- Demonstrated knowledge of statutory planning processes and the NSW planning system;
- Be enthusiastic to pursue a private sector town planning career and ongoing professional development with Planning Ingenuity;
- Have high quality and effective verbal and written communication skills;
- Able to work independently as well interact with clients, subconsultants and the team and know when each mode of work is appropriate;
- Ability to work with the time and resources of the team to deliver project plans;
- Maintain high standards, accuracy and attention to detail and aim to do your best for yourself and the team; and
- Current drivers licence.
