We are seeking a full time permanent Dietitian and Diabetes Educator/CDE to join our wonderful team of health professionals offering flexible work arrangements.

This position will provide expertise in the prevention and management of diabetes for consumers, health professionals and the general community, in addition to supporting the delivery of our fly-in-fly-out, visiting diabetes educator clinics in Western Queensland, National Diabetes Services Scheme (NDSS) programs and Diabetes Australia initiatives.
This position would best suit a Dietitian CDE or DE looking to complete their credentialling and based primarily at the Brisbane office although regular travel will be required.
- Provide high quality evidence-based information and education to people living with diabetes through clinical appointments, telehealth and group education.
- Integrate diabetes self-management education with clinical care tailored to the individuals' health care needs and circumstances as per the ADEA guidelines and standards of diabetes education.
- Coordinate client care as part of a multidisciplinary team with GP's, allied health professionals, general practice staff and local primary health care services.
- Work with general practices on continuous quality improvement, monitoring and evaluation activities and promoting best practice diabetes care.
- Provide health professional education through opportunistic and formal education sessions.
- Deliver diabetes education programs and health promotion activities across Qld as required.
- Provide expertise and advice regarding Diabetes Australia resources and publications, including the ongoing review of factsheets, web content and newsletter articles developed to increase awareness of diabetes and support people in their understanding and management of diabetes.
- Proactively search out, utilise and engage with health networks both health professional and consumer, linking them to Diabetes Australia.
- Identify opportunities and strategies to improve health and support networks within the community.
- Tertiary qualifications in Nutrition and Dietetics, full member of Dietitians Australia and Accredited Practising Dietitian (APD) status.
- Postgraduate qualifications in diabetes education.
- Experience as a Diabetes Educator in clinical practice. Demonstrated ability to apply knowledge, skill and expertise in diabetes self-management education, to evaluate and review delivery of education tailoring to the individual needs of the person living with diabetes.
- Demonstrated excellent organisational and time management skills and the ability to prioritise competing deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently within a multidisciplinary team under supervision of a Manager, to collaborate and advocate for the person living with diabetes.
- Demonstrated high level of written and verbal communication skills, including reporting, public speaking and presentations.
- After hours work will be required for this role as we deliver evening and weekend programs.
- Queensland drivers licence
- National Police Check is a mandatory requirement
- Significant travel will be required in this position including fly-in-fly-out clinics every 4-5 weeks (1 week away) plus additional travel to deliver group education programs across Qld. Metro program delivery covers Brisbane, Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast.
- Credentialled Diabetes Educator and full member of the Australian Diabetes Educators Association.
- Experience working in a rural or remote setting and/or experience working in general practice.
- Own car available for use for work purposes (km reimbursement available).
