Job description

Position Overview

We are seeking a dynamic leader with a continuous improvement mindset and a strong background in digital communications and marketing to join our vibrant and rapidly growing charity. The primary purpose of this role is to enhance our impact on mental health by developing and executing a comprehensive communication and marketing strategy. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving content creation, managing digital campaigns, and ensuring effective engagement with our diverse audience. They will provide strategic leadership, leverage digital platforms, oversee content across multiple channels, and inspire connection to our cause. This full-time position, reporting directly to the CEO, is contracted until November 2025, with the potential for extension.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic Leadership: Develop, implement, and evaluate the communications strategy, project management plan, and frameworks to achieve organisational, engagement, and mental health impact objectives.
  • Supporter Journey Planning: Develop and deliver a detailed supporter journey plan, including audience-specific content, to support the event.
  • Analytics and Measurement: Utilise analytics tools to measure the effectiveness of marketing and communication strategies and adjust strategies based on performance metrics.
  • Storytelling: Inspire people to connect with our cause through compelling narratives.
  • Content Oversight: Plan, develop, and implement all communications content (website, social media, EDMs, and mobile application), campaigns, PR, and media initiatives engaging participants, corporates, schools, donors, and beneficiaries.
  • Digital Platform Management: Review and approve all communications, marketing, and digital engagement platforms, ensuring high-quality content and brand alignment.
  • Innovation and Best Practices: Identify and implement innovative and best practice communications, public relations, and marketing initiatives to cost-effectively deliver outcomes.
  • Team Leadership: Provide effective leadership to drive the performance and outputs of the Communications and public relations team, including technical support, best practice communications advice, high-quality content, approvals, and process and system improvements.
  • Digital Marketing Expertise: Leverage digital platforms for marketing purposes, manage social media channels, online advertising, and email campaigns.
  • Stakeholder Management: Develop, maintain, and grow relationships with beneficiaries, partners, and consultants.
  • Supplier Management: Manage, procure, monitor, and evaluate the performance of supplier contracts.
  • Brand Management: Ensure vision, value, and identity are consistently positioned.
  • Operational and Strategic Decision-Making: Responsible for key operational decisions, plans, and budgets, and assist the CEO and board with developing strategic direction as a member of the Leadership Team.
Skills and Expertise
Essential:
  • 10+ years of demonstrated experience in strategic communications, marketing, and brand initiatives with a strong digital focus.
  • Demonstrated experience leading a marketing and communications team.
  • Experience in campaign, event, and/or fundraising communication management and delivery.
  • Excellent project management capability and organisational skills.
  • Strong strategic, conceptual, analytical, problem-solving, and creative skills.
  • In-depth understanding and practical knowledge of social media channels, management, trends, and innovations.
  • Experience in Campaign Monitor or equivalent (minimum 5 years) and implementing email marketing strategies including supporter journeys and audience segmentation.
  • Highly developed written and oral communication skills.
  • Stakeholder and agency management experience.
  • Experience across digital platforms (social media platforms, Canva, websites, CMS, CRMs, apps).
  • A love for data, statistics, and insights with practical application to drive engagement.
  • Continuous improvement/innovation mindset and experience in communications system and process improvement.
  • Strong experience in brand management.
Desirable:
  • A Bachelor of Communications, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Experience delivering large-scale marketing campaigns using digital and traditional channels.
  • Experience with fundraising.
  • Previous experience in not-for-profit fundraising will be highly regarded.

  • Hands-On: While managing a team and leading our communication plan and content, you'll also need to be happy to jump in and do it yourself, be it an EDM or social media post.
  • Team Player: We are a friendly and hard-working bunch - it's really important you've got great interpersonal skills and are a team-focused person.
