Communications Manager

An exciting opportunity has become available for a dedicated and driven Communications Manager to join one of Australia’s largest private health care companies.
The Opportunity
Based in Perth, this role is responsible for managing the reputation of Ramsay Health Care in Western Australia, particularly in relation to the organisation’s capability as an operator of public services.
Reporting dually to the State Manager – Western Australia and the Chief Communications and Marketing Officer, the role is critical in positioning the organisation positively with its key stakeholders, from both a proactive and reactive perspective.
Key Accountabilities
- Development of communications strategies in liaison with senior leaders including the State Manager – Western Australia and the Chief Communications and Marketing Officer.
- Coordinate all proactive media opportunities for Joondalup Health Campus and Joondalup Private Hospital
- Manage reactive media enquiries and the communications response to crisis situations at the Ramsay WA sites, which involves being on-call after hours and on weekends.
- Generate detailed and accurate information for the relevant Health Service Provider (NMHS and SMHS) and / or Minister’s office including briefing notes.
- Development of all communications collateral for any political visits and management of all logistics prior to and on the event day.
- Identify, track and manage potential issues that have media potential or a risk of reputational damage.
- Management of social media posts for Joondalup Health Campus and Joondalup Private Hospital.
- Coordinate and produce the Annual Report for Joondalup Health Campus as part of contractual reporting requirements.
- Management of photo shoots and filming related to media and corporate communication activities.
- Provision of regular communication to staff on behalf of the Joondalup Health Care executive and State Manager – Western Australia.
- Assist with relationship building with key stakeholder groups including, but not limited to, the local councils, St John Ambulance, local Members of Parliament.

To be successful in this role, you will have the following criteria:
Essential:
- Extensive experience in communications, public relations or a related discipline
- Excellent communication skills – written, verbal and visual
- Experience working in complex environments
- Demonstrated experience managing issues and crisis communication
- Ability to work with confidence with internal and external stakeholders
- Strong people management and relationship-building skills
- Ability to align communication effort with key business objectives
Desirable:
- Public relations, communications or journalism degree or qualification
- Experience in healthcare related communication work
