This is a pivotal role in supporting our researchers in their data-rich research activities and is dedicated to enabling and enhancing the research endeavours of our multidisciplinary teams. As the Digital Research Analyst you will collaborate with researchers to ensure early engagement to align IT services with research needs, be responsible for providing technical support, and innovative solutions in high-performance computing (HPC) working in close collaboration with the IT team. This role will also work collaboratively with researchers to optimise their workflows, leverage cutting-edge technologies, and maintain the integrity and security of research data.
Your responsibilities include:
- Proactively engage with researchers to understand data generation, computing, and storage requirements
- Analyse and translate these requirements into actionable solutions, ensuring alignment with research goals
- Collaborate with IT teams to ensure infrastructure and resources align with research demands
- Assist researchers in effectively running applications on HPC
- Troubleshoot and resolve HPC-related issues to minimise research disruptions.
- Provide training, advice, and assistance to researchers on selecting and implementing technology solutions to enhance their research productivity
About you:
- Degree in relevant field such as computer since, data science or related discipline
- 5 years of relevant experience in an academic or research environment
- Demonstrated experience in supporting researchers in HPC/cloud environments
- Experience in gathering and documenting research-specific IT requirements and translating them into actionable solutions
- Proficiency in building and managing containerised environments (e.g., Docker) for research purposes
- Strong skills in code optimisation techniques
