Overview:
Sunny Hills Child Care and Education Centre is seeking an experienced Diploma-qualified lead educator to join a close-knit team in a family-operated centre which has been a part of the community for 30 years.
The positions in this service are permanent employment positions for 38 hours per week, working between 7:00 am – 6:00pm (inclusive of a 2-hour staff meeting per month). The working hours generally remain the same and this service does not have rotating shifts. This position is expected to be a 9 - 5:30 shift, including a one hour lunch break, covered coffee/tea breaks, and paid programming time.

Sunny Hills Child Care and Education Centre is a family-owned and operated Early Childhood setting committed to providing children with a head start on their formal school years through play, intentional and spontaneous teaching, an engaging and inspiring environment and many and varied learning opportunities.
The Education and Care Service is located at Sunnybank Hills on the corner of the Sunnybank Hills State School grounds. The daily operating hours are 7.00am to 6.00pm Monday to Friday.
About the role:
You will be working as a lead educator with children aged 3 - 4 years, with opportunities to work with other age groups if desired. Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing a child orientated, engaging learning environment;
- Documenting children's experiences, critically reflecting on these and scaffolding new and extended learning experiences giving children many and varied learning opportunities to extend and continue to engage children in inspirational learning opportunities;
- Working with the centre director and educational lead to write and develop engaging, exciting and valuable programs and educational experiences for children;
- Providing a safe, secure and fun learning environment for the children to work and play in;
- Communicating with and coordinate with other room staff to achieve positive daily outcomes;
- Communicating and informing parents regarding their children's day and learning achievements
- Ensuring the centre is a clean, tidy and friendly environment for children.
About you:
- You will bring an enthusiasm, passion and a genuine love of learning and working with children to the teaching environment.
- You will show a commitment to and an understanding of the National Quality Standards and implement these in all of your activities.
- You will be adaptable and able to work across different environments.
Qualifications
- A Diploma in Children’s Service or equivalent qualification, as approved by ACEQCA.
Holidays
The position has 4 weeks annual leave with loading.
Hours and Breaks
- Daily Hours between 7.00am to 6.00pm
- Rest/Tea Break 20 minute morning tea break
- Lunch 1 hour
Experience
- At least 2 years previous classroom experience with any age group.
- Previous experience as a room lead / lead educator will be highly regarded
- Effective classroom management strategies and skills in coordinating the learning environment to ensure the safety, wellbeing, continued learning, achievements and productivity of the children.
- A broad knowledge and understanding of Early Childhood Education in the Early Childhood environment incorporating all facets of Early Childhood Education.
- A sound knowledge of the early years learning framework and national quality standards
Other highly useful skills:
- A knowledge of phonics reading programs
- A knowledge of the teaching basic numeracy and literacy to young children in a fun and engaging play environment.
- An interest in and knowledge of outdoor play stations with a focus on introducing the children to develop ball skills, group games skills, activities to develop gross motor skills and other sports related skills.
