Job description

The Department of Health is seeking an experienced senior manager to provide strategic leadership and direction to the Asset Management branch.

If you have extensive experience in developing infrastructure strategy and master plans and managing and maintaining a broad and complex property portfolio with significant infrastructure and operational requirements in a Health setting, then this is the role for you.

About the role

The Director Asset Management Services leads the Asset Management unit, overseeing strategic planning, management and sustainability of a specialised asset portfolio within the State public sector. This portfolio is the most intricate and extensive, catering to current and future health service delivery needs.

Drawing on expertise and professional experience in Asset Management, the Director offers authoritative advice to Government, engages in national and inter-jurisdictional discussions, supports key stakeholders, and fosters effective relationships with both governmental and private sector entities.

The Director is responsible for approximately 400 property assets across Tasmania, along with the strategic management of the State’s medical equipment.

About you

If you have exceptional qualities in leadership, collaboration, communication, and stakeholder engagement and can evidence a strong track record of success in championing strategic initiatives then this is a career defining opportunity not to be missed.

A desirable requirement of the role is a strong customer focus and outcome driven approach to Asset Management, a tertiary qualification in Engineering, Architecture or a similar Facilities Management related discipline and a Current Driver’s Licence.

A Child Safety and Wellbeing Framework is now in place across the Department of Health, safeguarding children and young people accessing our services and facilities. Your commitment is essential to improving the way we work with vulnerable people, in particular, implementing strategies and actions to promote child safety and wellbeing, and prevent harm to children and young people.

About the Team

The Infrastructure Group is responsible for the planning, delivery and management of the Department's asset portfolio, providing optimal support and amenity to staff and clients in a manner that minimises total (capital and lifecycle) costs, consistent with the delivery of quality services and compliance with relevant codes, regulations and statutes. The Asset Management branch is responsible for developing precinct master plans, implementing Asset Management systems and preventative and reactive maintenance functions.

Appointment

The role is a Senior Executive office for a contract period of 5 years and offers an attractive remuneration package, which incorporates salary ranging from $147,116 to $161,724 p.a. plus 11% superannuation and private use of a fully maintained vehicle.
