About our Team:
Safety, Quality & Innovation lead the development, implementation and ongoing review of CAHS’s external certification and accreditation processes and play a key role in the planning and execution of the Child and Adolescent Health Service’s (CAHS) organisational strategy relating to safety, quality, and clinical governance.
Through engagement with our workforce and consumers we ensure that our patients and their families are active partners in their healthcare journey and contribute to the continuous improvement of our services. Our dedicated Child and Family Liaison team manage consumer feedback from across the Child & Adolescent Health Service (CAHS), keeping each child’s health journey at the core of our focus and ensuring each concern is acknowledged, and appropriately investigated.
We seek to maintain and foster a culture of continuous improvement at every level - identifying emerging trends, evaluating best practices, and implementing innovative solutions to enhance patient safety and provide the highest quality care to our young patients and their families.
About the Role:
We are seeking a motivated and experienced leader to join us at CAHS. As Director of the Child and Family Liaison Service, you will work in conjunction with teams across Perth Children’s Hospital (PCH) and Neonatology, the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) and the Child and Adolescent Community Health (CACH) to ensure that the consumer concerns are meaningfully addressed and incorporated into our service improvements to enhance staff and patient experience.
Reporting to the Executive Director Safety, Quality and Innovation, you will lead your team in responding to, investigating, mediating and resolving complaints and grievances, suggestions and concerns from children, care givers and families. You will work closely with clinical teams, service leadership and executive to reengage families and work towards positive outcomes within a timely framework adhering to relevant governance and regulatory frameworks, standards, consumer rights and responsibilities and our organisational values.
Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading and managing the Child and Family Liaison Service including the complaint and grievance processes and facilitating performance against organisational targets.
  • Supporting consumers with concerns or complaints in achieving a resolution that enables positive outcomes in relation to their care needs and therapeutic relationships.
  • Developing, implementing, and reviewing objectives and strategies based on consumer feedback to enhance consumer satisfaction and experience of care.
  • Leading and supporting change, improvement and innovation across CAHS in relation to complaint management.
  • Developing and implementing systems and processes that support the establishment of collaborative and strong working relationships and partnerships; and ensuring that they are maintained, both internal and external to the organisation.
  • Managing relationships with key stakeholders including the Health and Disability Services Commission and Mental Health Advocacy Service
If you have exceptional communication and interpersonal skill and demonstrated leadership experience in delivering patient focused outcomes in a multi-disciplinary, complex health care environment then this is the role for you!
About CAHS:
The Child and Adolescent Health Service (CAHS) is proud to be the leading service provider for paediatric healthcare in Western Australia, as the State’s only dedicated health service for infants, children and young people. CAHS comprises four service areas: Perth Children’s Hospital (PCH) and Neonatology, Community Health, and Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS).
With over 6500 employees, our services are delivered at PCH and King Edward Memorial Hospitals (KEMH), as well as across a network of more than 160 community clinics across the Perth metropolitan area.
