Northern Adelaide Local Health Network (NALHN) is eager to recruit a Director Clinical Operations to work in our dynamic, growing and supportive team, to help us deliver exceptional care to our community.

About the Role:

An exciting opportunity is presented to work within the Northern Adelaide Local Health Network as a Director Clinical Operations within the Allied Health Division.

The Director Clinical Operations - Allied Health will provide leadership within the Network for priority areas of change management and reform, working closely with relevant Clinical Division. The Director Clinical Operations - Allied Health will be responsible for contributing to the development and implementation of strategies to meet the health needs of the Network’s population in conjunction with the Clinical Directorates.

The Director Clinical Operations - Allied Health reports directly to the Executive Director Allied Health (EDAH) and plays a key a role in translating strategy into operations in conjunction with the DAH and the Discipline Senior Managers, working closely with stakeholders in the Clinical Directorates.

The Director Clinical Operations - Allied Health has four key areas of responsibility:

  • Leadership and delivery of key operational objectives and priorities for Allied Health within the Allied Health and Outpatient Department (AHOD) division.
  • Leadership and management of Allied Health credentialing processes
  • Leadership and management of information management activities for Allied Health
  • Leadership and support of network-wide research / innovation activities for Allied Health

The Director Clinical Operations - Allied Health is a core member of the NALHN Allied Health management team and state-wide Allied Health leadership team and will work collaboratively with other LHN Directors/Advisors of Allied Health and the Chief Allied and Scientific Health Advisor, SA Health.

The Director Clinical Operations - Allied Health works as part of a multi-professional change team to develop new services and to prioritise service delivery according to the SA Health Strategic Plan 2017-2020 and Allied Health strategic and operational plans.

The Director Clinical Operations will work with the Executive Director of Allied Health to ensure frameworks and plans are in place across NALHN that:

  • Encourage the advancement and integration of Allied Health professions in line with health units, NALHN, state-wide and national policies.
  • Support core principles of consumer participation, clinical effectiveness, workplace innovation and management of risk.
  • Identify and address key workforce issues in NALHN and participate in planning and implementation of Network-wide workforce solutions, promoting a culture of excellence and positive workforce management.

In this Role you will support and assist in driving achievement of health unit, NALHN and state-wide key performance indicators.

A critical part of the position is to build relationships with and influence key stakeholders by working closely with the Northern Adelaide Executive Director Allied Health, Co-Directors of Directorates, Directors of programs, professional / discipline Managers, and other relevant stakeholders.

Currently Allied Health incorporates the following professions and references to Allied Health that follow relate to: Audiology, Dietetics, Exercise Physiology, Occupational Therapy, Orthotics and Prosthetics, Physiotherapy, Podiatry, Psychology, Social Work, Speech Pathology, Allied Health assistant and adjunct roles.

To be eligible for this position, you must have Appropriate degree or equivalent qualification for one of the following Allied Health disciplines working in the service, specifically:

  • Appropriate Degree or equivalent qualification which entitles registration as an Occupational Therapist with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia.
  • Appropriate Degree or equivalent qualification which entitles registration with the Physiotherapy Board of Australia.
  • Appropriate Degree or equivalent qualification which gives eligibility for full membership of Speech Pathology Australia.
  • Appropriate Degree or equivalent qualification which gives eligibility for full membership of the Dietitians Association of Australia (DAA).
  • Appropriate Degree or equivalent qualification which gives eligibility for full membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers.
  • Appropriate Degree or equivalent qualification which entitles registration with the Podiatry Board of Australia.
  • Appropriate Degree (master’s in clinical or health Psychology) or equivalent qualification as recognised by the PsyBA and general registration with PsyBA.
  • Appropriate Degree or equivalent qualification, usually in human movements, inclusive of the exercise physiology elective and eligible for accreditation from Exercise Sports Science Australia (ESSA).
  • Appropriate degree and or equivalent qualification which gives eligibility for Association membership with the Audiological Society of Australia.
  • Appropriate degree or equivalent qualification of Prosthetics and Orthotics. Eligibility for membership of the Australian Orthotic Prosthetic Association is desirable.
