Director Commercial, Ongoing, Sydney

This role is a salary Senior Executive Band 1, with the base salary for this role starting at $217,997-$242,099 base plus superannuation, commensurate with experience.

About the Role

Are you an innovative strategist with a passion for achieving commercial outcomes? Do you possess a wealth of experience in directing contract activities? If so, we invite you to apply for the pivotal role of Director, Commercial at Infrastructure NSW.

In this role, you will offer expert guidance in crafting, executing, and consistently overseeing Projects NSW commercial management. Your goal is to attain agreed-upon objectives and uphold top-notch project and contract standards, ensuring a commercially robust foundation that satisfies key stakeholders. You'll also offer strategic advice to the Executive Director Portfolio Projects and other Projects NSW team members, particularly in managing contractors and service providers. Your insights will prove invaluable during the development, procurement, and delivery phases, providing essential advice on procurement, commercial matters, and financial considerations.

Some of the key accountabilities for the role include:

  • Providing strategic advice to the Executive Director Portfolio Projects and other Infrastructure NSW staff on all commercial matters, and in relation to contract negotiations.
  • Maintaining the commercial integrity of the Projects NSW projects by ensuring all contracts accurately capture client requirements, are acceptable to market, result in commercially sound outcomes for the government and are awarded on time to meet overall program objectives.
  • Leading the delivery of projects and post implementation reviews to help ensure benefits realisation and understand lessons to be learned.
  • Managing dispute avoidance and commercial resolution, ensuring alignment with organisational resolution strategies and best practice.

About You

The ideal candidate should have demonstrated experience in achieving commercial success in complex, multi-contract infrastructure projects. Alongside this, possessing a tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline or relevant experience is essential.

Highly valued in this role is the proficiency in developing and implementing commercial management strategies. Moreover, a robust capability to maintain a well-balanced focus on strategic outcomes amidst evolving project dynamics is a key attribute we seek in our ideal candidate.
