Job description

This role will ensure high-quality outcomes aligned with organisational strategies, lead functional areas to serve Parks Victoria, and foster a performance-oriented culture.

Additionally, the role will drive team development, plan for growth, and ensure clear guidelines for effective portfolio management.

Client Details

Parks Victoria is a statutory authority of the Victorian Government acting in accordance with the Parks Victoria Act 2018. Parks Victoria recognises the value and importance of working in partnership with Traditional Owners to manage parks and reserves in a culturally sensitive and ecologically appropriate way.

Parks Victoria is responsible for managing a diverse estate of more than 4 million hectares including 3,000 land and marine parks and reserves making up 18 per cent of Victoria's landmass, 75 per cent of Victoria's wetlands and 70 per cent of Victoria's coastline. Victoria's parks are home to more than 4,300 native plants and around 1,000 native animal species. Parks Victoria is the local port manager for Port Phillip, Western Port and Port Campbell. The three local ports combined receive approximately 30 million visits a year, and include 263,000 hectares of waterway, marine protected areas, channels, piers and jetties, moorings and aids to navigation.

Parks Victoria's estate attracts more than 100 million visits every year and we are committed to providing accessible, enjoyable, diverse programs and destinations while protecting and enhancing environmental and cultural values. Description

As the Director, you will:

  • Deliver high quality outcomes based on 'Shaping our Future', Corporate and Business Plan and Functional Strategies
  • Lead the functional areas to deliver services to Parks Victoria
  • Promote a performance-oriented culture in the organisation that encourages accountability and service/project delivery
  • Lead accurate and transparent performance analysis across planning, monitoring and reporting to the Executive team to support organisational success
  • Satisfy the key capabilities required to deliver on our organisational vision and purpose in accordance with the Parks Victoria Capability Framework

Profile

  • Demonstrated extensive experience in setting direction and leading a multi-functional Division, coupled with an advanced understanding of financial operating and reporting environments of government authorities.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the appropriate interpretation and implementation of relevant legislation and associated regulations, guidelines, policies and practices preferably within a large and complex government organisation.
  • Demonstrated experience across governance regulations, compliance, leasing and licensing.
  • Demonstrated evidence in superior management of people and performance standards that enable successful achievement of the organisation's corporate and business plans and objectives.
  • Please note: Regular and unplanned travel to rural and remote areas of Victoria (including areas where no public transport options exist) may be required as part of this role.
