The Client
A respected Council based on the Western side of the Cape York Peninsula, has a unique career opportunity to live in a stunning coastal location with fantastic fishing and outdoor activities.
Just a short 1.5-hour flight from Cairns with a full range of community services including banking and postal agencies, arts centre, airport, aged and childcare and community police. The community is located within driving reach to a well serviced town.
The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Director of Corporate Services. Reporting directly to the CEO, this diverse role is responsible for the effective delivery of all Corporate Services to the Community and Council. Responsibilities include financial, HR, IR, administrative, risk management, Council stores, property management, governance and records management.
A generous salary package including fully maintained vehicle with private use, subsidised housing and airfares included.
About You
To be successful in this role you will have;

• Demonstrated experience in successfully communicating, negotiating and interacting with Aboriginal people and demonstrated knowledge of Aboriginal culture and customs.
• Strong Leadership and management skills
• Tertiary qualifications in an appropriate discipline such as Business, Accounting, Local Government.
• Proven track record in managing Corporate Services in a public sector environment including the management of human, financial and capital resources.
• Demonstrated communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills.
• Thorough knowledge of Local Government legislation and regulations.
• Hold a current C Class Motor Vehicle Licence
• Ability to pass a criminal check
