Your new company 

Hays are please partner with a remote local government organisation based approx. 800km Northwest of Cairns, QLD. This council is seeking a Director Corporate Services to join the team in a permanent, full-time capacity. This is a residential role, requiring relocation to the council with subsidised accommodation and relocation assistance provided.  

Your new role 

Reporting to the Chief Executive Office, you will be responsible for the efficient and effective delivery of all Corporate Services to the Community and Council, including financial services, information technology services, human resource services, administrative services, risk management, Council stores, property management, governance, and records management.

Overseeing both offices, you will be expected to lead these employees, ensuring effective working relations between the two.

What you'll need to succeed 

To be successful in this role, you will require: 

• Tertiary qualifications in an appropriate discipline as Business, Accounting or Local Government 
• Experience in successfully communicating, negotiating and interacting with Aboriginal people and demonstrated knowledge of Aboriginal culture and customs. 
• Strong leadership and management skills within a complex, multi-disciplinary environment
• Demonstrated experience in leading teams to achieve agreed outcomes and meet compliance requirements of quality and timeliness 
• Demonstrated ability to develop and implement plans, and measure results 
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a proven track record in developing effective leadership within a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders 
• A sound knowledge of Local Government legislation and regulations, and commitment to updating skills and knowledge to meet changing trends and legislative compliance
