Reporting to the General Manager of HR and Safety, this role is responsible for leading and managing the Health, Safety and Environmental function for Rheinmetall Defence Australia's (RDA).
The Director Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) will develop, drive and execute RDA's HSE strategies, work plan and deliverables. The role will work in partnership with HR and the wider business to champion positive change, continuous improvement initiatives and improve the overall safety culture to ensure safety always comes first.
As Director - Health, Safety & Environment, you can anticipate some of your day-to-day tasks to include:
- Elevate culture of accountability through leadership and behaviour based safety principles;
- Ensure full integration of psychosocial and physical hazard management into safe work systems;
- Secure ongoing compliance with all legislative, statutory & externally certified system requirements (ISO45001, ISO14001 and ISO50001);
- Ensure due diligence requirements are understood and demonstrated through Executive consultation and response to key HSE matters;
- Include initiatives to support Rheinmetall Ag Sustainability targets in local strategy;
- Maintain full suite of reports for HSE to meet internal and external requirements including monthly, quarterly and annual reports for Executive and Board reference; and
- Partner with finance division to meet climate related financial data under IFRS requirements.

The experience and skillset best suited to this role includes:
- Tertiary and vocational qualifications in Workplace Health and Safety, Occupational Health Safety, Business, Auditing, Rehabilitation, Training, Project Management or a related discipline;
- Significant experience within senior management with leading teams, implementing and driving strategies and working within an operational environment;
- Extensive experience in the areas of wellbeing, health and Safety and Environment, with a focus on improving safety leadership and culture, wellbeing strategies, systems, policies and processes;
- Strong project management skills, including experience with developing, leading and collaborating with multiple stakeholders;
