The University of Adelaide is seeking an exemplary professional to join the HR Branch in a newly created role as Director, HR Operations Management.
Reporting directly to the Executive Director, Human Resources (ED HR) and as part of the HR Executive team, this is a unique opportunity that will enable you to provide operational management expertise and support to the ED HR to ensure the effective delivery of day-to-day operational activities and, in turn, meaningfully contribute to the attainment of the HR Strategy.
Operating with a high degree of autonomy and independent judgement, you will review and prepare key communications on behalf of the ED HR to facilitate decision making, effective governance and high quality, culturally aligned, effective outcomes.
Responsibilities:
- Provide strong operational leadership by managing workflows and ensuring projects are completed on time and to the required standard.
- Draft reports, briefing papers, proposals, announcements, and emails on behalf of the ED HR for varied audiences.
- Act as an escalation point for the HR Branch, providing expertise and making decisions on behalf of the ED HR.
- Review operational material requiring ED HR approval and make necessary adjustments to ensure content accuracy.
- Work with HR Branch Directors to ensure HR project implementation and timely achievement of milestones to meet the University's people objectives.
- Represent the HR Branch on behalf of the ED HR in internal and external committees, meetings, and public events as required.
Key requirements:
- A proven track record in managing operational activities, preferably within a large and complex organisation/s.
- Demonstrated ability to provide strategic advice on HR policies and procedures.
- Ability to directly and indirectly influence people and teams to respond to competing priorities.
- High attention to detail with proven ability to synthesise relevant information into succinct points.
- Excellent communication, research, and presentation skills, with the ability to create high-quality communication materials such as reports, briefing papers and proposals for an executive audience.
- Sound understanding of governance and reporting requirements.
- Proven ability to build and maintain strong networks and relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrated HR knowledge and understanding is desirable.
