Safer Care Victoria was established in January 2017 to ensure our health services are providing safe, high-quality care to patients: every time, everywhere. As well as monitoring the standards of care provided, Safer Care Victoria is partnering with patients, clinicians and health service managers to support the continuous improvement of health care.
Our aim is to co-create a consistently safe and continuously improving healthcare system.

How you'll make a difference:
The Director, Improvement will lead priority improvement initiatives for Safer Care Victoria (SCV) that aim to deliver measurable impact through focused projects to reduce avoidable harm and deliver better outcomes.
The Director will work collaboratively with the senior leadership team at SCV, and with clinicians, consumers and executives across the healthcare sector to drive improved system safety and value in the delivery of healthcare for Victorians.
You will lead by example demonstrating the SCV and Department of Health (DH) values in your interactions with staff and stakeholders. As an executive, you will support a culture in your team and across the organisation that is innovative, collaborative, flexible, proactive, and dedicated to delivering outstanding healthcare for all Victorians, always.
Are you
- A strategic leader, who can lead program delivery, give strategic advice to SCV's CEO and DH's senior executives, and work collaboratively with the SCV executive team to deliver results?
- An experienced executive who has led large teams in busy, high-profile and constantly changing environments?
- An outstanding communicator who is capable of influencing stakeholders at all levels?
Suitable applicants will be able to demonstrate:
- Extensive knowledge of health, public policy, and/or quality and safety and experience in engaging health services.
- Knowledge and understanding of the key issues impacting the management and delivery of public health services. In particular, knowledge across the areas that impact the ability to implement and sustain major change and improvement initiatives.
- Executive leadership experience is required.
- An understanding and experience of large-scale improvement initiatives.
