This is a fixed term SES 1 role
As the Director of Transport Improvement, reporting directly to the Executive Director of Network Operations, you will lead dynamic teams dedicated to enhancing and optimising public transport and road networks. Your primary responsibility will involve overseeing the implementation of targeted reforms in traffic management and other designated initiatives. Additionally, you will provide invaluable expertise to support the day-to-day operations and significant Big Build program, ensuring the network's capacity, constraints, and resilience are expertly managed.
Collaboration will be key in this role, as you work extensively across the DTP and with various transport operators to achieve overarching objectives. Your focus will remain steadfast on improving user experience, both strategically and tactically, by placing users at the forefront of decision-making processes. You will actively identify, initiate, and cultivate operational expertise and problem-solving capabilities to address complex challenges effectively.
Furthermore, you will leverage negotiation and influence skills to foster alignment with DTP's strategic priorities among internal departments, MTIA, other agencies, and transport operators. Cultivating a culture of high-performance and inclusiveness will be integral, and you will lead by example, embodying the values upheld by the DTP.
Position Outcomes
Our ideal candidate you will possess a proven track record in delivering high-level strategic advice to the Secretary, Ministers, and Senior Leadership members on critical transport issues, policy matters, and implementation priorities within the broader transport portfolio. They will excel in leading collaborative partnerships across the transport portfolio and the Victorian Public Sector, effectively communicating the Secretary's priorities, promoting transport initiatives, and providing robust support for the Secretary's public-facing and corporate roles.
