Employment OpportunityThe Director,
Media and Communication leads the delivery of external and internal communication functions on behalf of the Attorney-Generals Department, including media management, strategic communication, online communication, corporate communication and graphic design and advertising campaigns.The Director will:
- Lead a large, high-performing section to deliver communication outputs aligned to the departments outcomes.
- Build and maintain section capacity and capabilities, ensuring outputs are delivered based on priorities.
- Foster close, respectful working relationships with and provide expert communication advice to key stakeholders.
- Maintain whole-of-department processes and protocols for communication operations.
- Manage the development and delivery of a wide range of communication products and services.
- Oversee key procurement and contractual activities; including, but not limited to, the department's media monitoring service.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of communication outputs to guide development of future activities.
- Management of and participation in an on-call roster after hours to fulfil media duties.
- Contribute to strategic and operational planning/improvements for the Branch and Group.
- Oversee delivery of department led multi-disciplinary national campaigns.
Significant experience in a communication-related role, ideally with a communication degree is desired.The Director,
Media and Communication reports directly to the Assistant Secretary,
Strategy and Governance, and works closely with the offices of the COO, Secretary and Attorney-General. Certain positions require formal legal qualifications. For these positions, applicants must hold a degree in law from an Australian tertiary institution or comparable overseas qualification, which, in the opinion of the Secretary, is appropriate to the duties of the office, or admission in Australia as a legal practitioner.
