Director – Medical Panels

About the role
The Director, Medical Panels will be responsible for planning and leading a range of initiatives within the strategic and legislative framework for the proper constituting of individual Medical Panels by the Convenor Medical Panels.
The role is responsible for the leadership of the resources provided to the Convenor (collectively known as Medical Panels Victoria) to establish a culture and infrastructure that supports an effective and efficient core business. The ability to lead a flexible team to adapt to a dynamic environment which includes changes in referral trends, legislation and policy is an inherent part of the role.
This role requires highly specialised leadership, management, communication and stakeholder engagement skills to develop and implement governance, policy, and other reforms required to ensure the Convenor's requirements for constituting Medical Panels is positioned well both now and into the future.
Key Accountabilities
  • Influencing, developing and maintaining relationships with a range of key internal and external stakeholders and providers to optimise the proper functioning of Medical Panels both currently and to prepare for the future.
  • To lead the development of and oversight plans to ensure the sustainability and performance of Medical Panels – including in the areas of the Medical Panels workforce; Information Technology, Security, People, Policy, Governance and Financial resourcing.
  • The leadership and engagement of a highly motivated team that is focussed on delivery of the Medical Panels mission, and in accordance with the Convenor's Directions, legislative timeframes, budget and other relevant key performance indicators.
  • Analyse and interpret multiple sources of information and utilise a range of approaches to address the current and future challenges facing Medical Panels.
  • Leading the development and management of financial systems in compliance with governance and audit requirements.
  • Preparing for the Convenor, high level advice on policy issues relating to Medical Panels.
About you
You are an extremely experienced strategic leadership professional who wants to make a difference. You have demonstrated experience in managing and leading a team or teams of multi-disciplinary professionals specialising in administration or operations.
  • Experienced in leading and managing a business area of similar/greater size and scope to achieve successful business outcomes
  • Highly developed oral and written communication skills, including demonstrated superior interpersonal, negotiation, presentation and motivational skills
  • Substantial experience in developing partnerships, and engaging a wide range of senior level internal and external stakeholders and providers to achieve successful business outcomes
  • Proven ability to work in a changing and fast paced environment, managing multiple stakeholder needs to deliver outcomes
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a business within a sensitive environment and subject to close public scrutiny
