How you'll make a difference:

You will provide authoritative and strategic advice in the field of health, Safety and Wellbeing including workers' compensation. This will include critical policy and procedure formulation, identification and management of major risk factors and working with and supporting the department's divisions in the development of viable solutions to address operational health Safety and Wellbeing issues.

You will effectively manage and provide leadership to internal and external stakeholders including WorkSafe Victoria, the department's workers' compensation insurer and the department's employee wellbeing supports service provider.  In building and maintaining relationships with these stakeholders you will ensure that the department's interests are promoted and protected.

You will be required to represent the People branch and the department at inter-agency forums and state-wide forums, conferences, committees and relevant working groups.

This role will require you to be passionate about making a difference in a diverse and exciting workplace, and to foster a culture of collaboration within your function and the wider business.

Suitable applicants will be able to demonstrate:

  • Knowledge and understanding of the key issues impacting the management and delivery of public services would be expected. In particular, knowledge across the areas of community, health or welfare sectors would be advantageous.
  • Experience in organising and providing information that supports high-level decision making and advanced experience preparing briefs, presentations, planning documents, reports and correspondence using clear, concise and unambiguous language would be well regarded.
  • Experience in dealing with matters of investigation by WorkSafe Victoria.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act 2004 (Vic) and the Workplace Injury Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 2013 (Vic).
