As the Director of Business Development for our successful startup in the Contract Drug Development and Manufacture (CDMO) industry, you will lead our efforts in driving strategic partnerships, expanding our client base, and accelerating revenue growth. This role is pivotal in shaping our company's trajectory and establishing us as a key partner in the drug development, CMC (Chemistry, Manufacturing, and Controls) and clinical trials sectors. Candidates with previous experience in similar roles within drug development CMC or clinical trials industries are preferred.
Responsibilities
- Strategic Partnership: Spearhead the identification and development of strategic partnerships with pharmaceutical companies, biotech firms, and research organisations. Leverage your industry expertise and network to establish mutually beneficial collaborations that enhance our capabilities and drive revenue growth.
- Client Acquisition: Lead the acquisition of new clients and projects by identifying and pursuing opportunities aligned with our expertise in drug development CMC and clinical trials. Develop and execute targeted strategies to expand our client base and increase market share.
- Relationship Management: Cultivate and nurture long-term relationships with key clients, understanding their unique needs and priorities. Serve as the primary point of contact for client inquiries, proposals, and contract negotiations, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction and retention.
- Industry Insight: Stay abreast of industry trends, regulatory developments, and competitive dynamics within the drug development CMC and clinical trials sectors. Translate insights into actionable strategies to maintain our competitive edge and capitalize on emerging opportunities.
- Revenue Growth: Develop and implement sales strategies and initiatives to achieve revenue targets and drive business growth. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop pricing strategies, negotiate contracts, and optimize project profitability.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including R&D, operations, regulatory affairs, and finance, to ensure seamless project execution and delivery. Collaborate on product development initiatives to meet client needs effectively.
- Market Positioning: Develop and execute marketing campaigns and promotional activities to raise brand awareness and establish thought leadership in the drug development, CMC and clinical trials industries. Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities to showcase our capabilities and expertise.
- Leadership and Team Development: Provide leadership, mentorship, and guidance to the Business Development team, fostering a culture of excellence, innovation, and collaboration. Set clear goals, monitor performance, and support professional development initiatives to drive team success.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in life sciences, business administration, or a related field; advanced degree (MBA, PhD) preferred.
- Proven track record of success in Business Development roles within the drug development, CMC or clinical trials industries, with a strong understanding of industry processes, regulations, and market dynamics.
- Demonstrated ability to cultivate and maintain strategic partnerships, negotiate contracts, and drive revenue growth.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.

The Offer
The salary for this position starts in the six figures, depending on experience. In addition to the base salary, there is a generous commission and bonus structure in place, offering uncapped earning potential based on performance and achievement of targets.
