Mater is currently looking for a Director of Clinical Services to join the Mater Private Hospital Springfield team. This permanent, full time role will be based at the Springfield campus.
Mater brings together more than a century of expertise and compassionate care to improve the health of the Springfield community. We will deliver this through the provision of world-leading healthcare – inside hospitals, in people’s homes and in the community, including targeted services for refugee and First Nations communities. Addressing unmet health needs is central to Mater’s mission and was the driving force behind Mater’s decision to build the first hospital in the master-planned community of Springfield. The proposed Stage 2 expansion of the hospital will meet the current and future health needs of the rapidly growing Western Corridor and provides the State Government with a number of significant advantages over other options for delivering hospital services in the region, with an expected opening of 2026. The expansion will deliver the following infrastructure:
- 74 public overnight and same-day beds, bringing the total number of beds to 233
- Intensive Care Unit and maternity services
- A much-needed Emergency Department
- More operating theatres and endoscopy suites
- Increased clinical capability for more complex care to be delivered locally.
The Director of Clinical Services (DCS), has responsibility for the clinical leadership and management of the hospital, upholding Mater’s Mission, Vision and Values, and in aligning the strategic plans and goals to Mater Health and the Mater strategic plan. The role ensures optimal performance in service delivery through contemporary approaches to healthcare provision and places emphasis on the successful integration of education and research with health services.
Salary: Commensurate with experience plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900
What you’ll be doing
The DCS, will support the overall delivery of care and services, through safe, highly reliable care to achieve optimal clinical outcomes and an exceptional patient centred experience. This role, in conjunction with the hospital General Manager contributes to strengthening the reputation and brand of Mater Health, through its healthcare services in the community, and always, achieves efficient and sustainable financial performance. You will works with the hospital Leadership Team to achieve exceptional clinical and corporate governance, operational performance, healthcare outcomes and a culture which acknowledges excellence in professional standards, behaviour and accountability.

About you
You will have relevant registration with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia. You will also meet the below criteria:
- 5 years post-basic or post-graduate nursing experience & minimum 1 years’ experience as Nurse Unit Manager or Higher.
- Proven previous experience managing a large, complex health provision organisation including Significant experience in leading a large integrated, multidisciplinary workforce comprising of both clinical and non-clinical team members; and multiple acute care facilities and/or a state-wide hospital network
- Tertiary qualifications (or equivalent) in business, finance, healthcare management or human behaviour discipline (desirable)
