The Coastal Network has many ideal locations for you to live that will give you access to some of the best beaches in the world, amazing scenery and some amazing walks for you to explore. There are two main hubs within the Network, being Bega Valley and Eurobodalla. Should you be successful in this role, you will work across this region with other members of the Network Executive team. We will also consider job sharing the role to enable applicants to be based in either location at Bega, or Eurobodalla and work part time.

What you'll be doing

The primary objective of the Director Medical Services (DMS) is to ensure the safe, effective and efficient delivery of the full range of Medical Services across the agreed area within Southern NSW Local Health District.  You will work with a highly skilled and highly motivated group of three medical administrators and thirteen District Medical Leads - a terrific blend of experience and youthful enthusiasm all working together to care for our community.  In addition, you will be an essential member of the Coastal Network Executive managing the business of healthcare and safety and quality.

This is a great opportunity for a young DMS - who will receive extensive mentorship and support or an older DMS, keen to make a real difference to a wonderful rural community.

Qualifications - External

Selection Criteria

1. Demonstrated extensive experience of clinical leadership and management at the executive or senior level.
2. Demonstrated capacity in communication and negotiation.
3. Proven ability to influence and resolve conflict.
4. Evidence of excellent consultative and interpersonal skills.
5. Demonstrated understanding of and ability to lead clinical governance, clinical risk management and continuous quality improvement within the complex operating environment.
6. Ability to liaise and consult with all levels of the health industry.
7. Demonstrated commercial acumen.
8. Hold a current unrestricted driver’s licence and the ability to travel regularly within Network for work purposes.

Essential Requirements

• Current registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency as a Medical Practitioner or registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand
• Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Medical Administrators, and/or other specialist recognition asprovided for in the Staff Specialist (State) Award, and/or working towards FRACMA and/or other post graduate qualifications that are appropriate and pertinent to the function of the DMS.

• Evidence of a current, unrestricted class C driver's license. Ability and willingness to travel for work purposes. This may involve driving long distances and overnight stays as required.

This is a Category ‘A’ position, please read and understand NSW Health policy directive PD2023_022. All new employees must agree to comply with the requirements outlined in this policy. OASV requirements also include proof of vaccination against influenza and is compulsory for NSW Staff that enter any Residential Aged Care Facility (RACF) or who work in NSW Health owned and operated RACFs.
