The Opportunity
Central Coast Local Health District (CCLHD) is seeking a new Director of Mental Health to join their team. As a key member of the senior leadership team and working closely with the executive team, the Director of Mental Health will provide strategic oversight, development and coordination of Mental Health services across the District. This will include acute inpatient services and specialist community Mental Health services.
CCLHD plays a crucial role in delivering Mental Health services to the diverse communities within the Central Coast region. This is a pivotal role which will provide the successful candidate with the opportunity to design and deliver contemporary, community-centric Mental Health services in alignment with CCLHD’s newly released Clinical Services Plan. Additionally, the Director of Mental Health will be tasked with building and maintaining strong stakeholder partnerships to ensure a collaborative, multi-disciplinary approach across the District.
Reporting to the District Director Community, Wellbeing & Allied Health, the Director of Mental Health will lead a team of approximately eight direct reports and a broader team of 400 FTE. There is ample opportunity to look at innovative models of care to further enhance consumer experience across both inpatient and community services. As part of the senior leadership team, the Director will also contribute to district wide strategic planning.
Key responsibilities include

  • Providing leadership, mentorship, and guidance to a multidisciplinary team.
  • Ensuring staff are aware of and aligning with the District’s key strategic priorities.
  • Leading the design and delivery of both new and existing services in alignment with CCLHD’s Clinical Services Plan and strategic direction.
  • Fostering a culture that promotes collaboration, ongoing professional development and evidence-based, clinical best practice models of care.
  • Financial management and accountability of services within the portfolio.
About You
  • For this appointment, we are seeking a senior leader with a track record overseeing the strategic and operational delivery of a service portfolio within a complex, geographically dispersed and customer centred setting. An established understanding of Mental Health services is essential. In addition, the successful candidate will have:
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Mental Health, Health Management or other relevant fields and/or equivalent experience.
  • An understanding of contemporary Mental Health models of care and a track record of optimising business outcomes and managing reform and change.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage with multiple stakeholders at all levels to deliver on organisational goals and priorities.
  • Strong relationship management skills, with an ability to work collaboratively, influence and negotiate, particularly at a community level.
The CCLHD Mental Health leadership team is based out of the Wyong Hospital Campus with travel across the Central Coast region as required.
Please note that it is mandatory for all NSW Health employees to be fully vaccinated against Covid-19. In addition, you will need to have a current National Police Check and an unencumbered Class C drivers’ license
