Ngunya Jarjum Aboriginal Child and Family Network are seeking self-motivated Board Directors to help steer our Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation through an exciting phase of growth and diversification.
About Us:Ngunya Jarjum Aboriginal Corporation is a dynamic and community-driven Organisation committed to the well-being and cultural preservation of Aboriginal children. Our mission is to keep Aboriginal children connected to family, Country, and their rich cultural heritage. Over the years, we have grown from a small foster care support agency to one of the largest Aboriginal community-controlled designated agencies under the NSW Office of Children’s Guardian. Our scope extends across the Bundjalung Nation, including the Clarence, Richmond, and Tweed Valley areas.
Position Overview: We are seeking passionate and dedicated Bundjalung Aboriginal Professionals to join our team as a Director.
As a Director at Ngunya Jarjum Aboriginal Corporation, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the operations of our Organisation on behalf of all members. Your responsibilities include:
Strategic Leadership: Set the direction for managing the business of the corporation, ensuring alignment with our vision and goals.
Advocacy: Be a strong advocate for Aboriginal children in care, promoting their well-being, cultural connection, and family preservation.
Governance: Serve as a member of the Board of Directors, actively participating in meetings and decision-making processes.
Selection Criteria:
· Aboriginal Identity: Identify as a Bundjalung Aboriginal Professional with a deep understanding of Aboriginal culture, history, and community dynamics must be 18yrs and over
· Commitment: Demonstrate a genuine commitment to the well-being of Aboriginal children and families.
· Leadership Experience: Previous experience in a leadership or governance role is highly desirable.
· Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
· Collaborative Approach: Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
Appointment to this position will be subject to a National Criminal History Record Check and a NSW Working with Children – Voluntary clearance.
