The Opportunity:
As the Director of Nursing, you will play a pivotal role within our Mental Health Executive Team, while reporting to the General Manager.
By working collaboratively with the HNE Mental Health Executive Team and Nursing Leaders across the district, you will be responsible for providing professional, clinical, and strategic direction for the Mental Health Nursing profession across the Hunter New England Mental Health Service (HNEMHS). This position is also operationally responsible for clinical services at the Mater Mental Health Centre and Morisset Hospital.

The Service you will lead:
HNE MHS is one of the largest and most geographically diverse MHS in the state and we cover metropolitan, regional, and rural areas.
Our team of over 1700 mental health professionals deliver comprehensive and specialist mental health services. We stand committed to serving mental health consumers, carers, and their families, to lived experience and co-design, and to providing culturally diverse, safe, and inclusive care. Mental Health services provide a range of inpatient services (330 beds across 8 sites) and community mental health care, from prevention and early intervention to treatment, rehabilitation, and continuing care. The focus of these services is to provide timely and effective care and to empower consumers to become resilient, independent and to self-manage their illness and recovery. Our services are organised by geographical location and cover all age groups including children and adolescents, adults, and older people.
HNE Mental Health is currently embarking on an exciting journey of redevelopment across a number of its key sites, in addition to this, supported by a new structure, we are taking an innovative and consumer-focused approach to redesign the care we deliver.
Requirements:
- Registered Nurse with current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
- Masters qualification in Nursing or Management and extensive experience in a senior health service management role that affords a high level of professional and technical competence
- Tertiary qualifications in health administration, in business or related degree with a health related focus and/or relevant equivalent extensive senior management experience in line with the position.
